proud of all of you

we've been in slc at the house for the long weekend...actually almost a week....so, a very nice time....i've had all my kids at one point or another..we had the cousins over on saturday for a little play luncheon date....what a fun time....i am so proud to watch the "younger generation", it is so great to see how you have grown up, what you are all acomplishing, the jobs you have, the talents you've all learned, the cute kids you are raising...it's just fun to see you doing your thing.....i think you are all so wonderful! you really amaze me! so, keep it up...you will all acomplish great and wonderful things...and raising your kids is one of the most fantastic....i'm soooo proud of you...while you were all standing talking, feeding babies, holding them etc....i just wished that grandma and grandpa were there to see you guys....boy, are they proud of you....grandma june would have had a ball to see you all...and grandpa jiggs would be playing with all the kids, teasing them like he did all of us....so, keep it up...you're doing great!

the past

so, in my last blog,i mentioned that i went to the movies...it was "music and lyrics" a cute, fun show..sort of about reliving the past...and it made me wonder, why do we like to relive the past? i remember my dad would sit around and talk about all the basketball games he ever coached, what plays they made, how they won or lost....we all love to remember our high school years...with such fondness..i'm sure they weren't that great..or were they? i guess we like to remember the past because it's when we were younger or our kids were young...is it because we feel that it was a simpler, better time? is it because we are living our problems now, and in those memories, the problems are over with? whatever it is, remember those beautiful times...but enjoy the ones of now also...

valentines day

today i got to spend time with one of my favorite valentines...kerry and i bonded at the movies...always so fun...it's great that she is a senior and is really just here to play with me in the afternoons....her keyboarding class is an easy class to leave 2 or so times a week...so, what a fun time we have....she's been off tonight with friends for a valentine date....now, she delivered some valentine cookies...very busy....we are going to slc to see all my other valentines tomorrow....that's the best valentine i can have....my favorite thing to do is hang with my kids and family and friends....i'm so lucky to have so many valentines to share with.....

adventure

i'm on a roll....2 blogs tonight...anyway to get on with it...where is your sense of adventure? where do you want to go? what do you want to do? what do you want to see? i love reading travel magazines, the pictures of places...i was just looking at one of beautiful italy...oh, i wish i was there....or watching travel shows...they just get me thinking of where i would like to go next...so, i'll tell you...i dream always of laying in a boat, with one foot in the water...just bobbing along in a beautiful ocean or lake...i also dream of china, seeing the great wall, the statues, the beautiful scenery...i would like to go on a safari to africa, see the animals, see victoria falls, go to egypt...i would like to go to russia...see the fantastic buildings there...next,i would like to go to greece...the white buildings against the blue ocean...those are on my next to do list..and then there is the rest...south america, islands, india...more of europe, and i think i could do italy about every other year...i love to see the places of history, beauty, and to learn about the people...i like studying up before i go...that's half the fun of going...i wish i knew the languages...but, it's fun to talk to the people..travel is just one of the greatest things to do...and it's alot of fun with my family...it's fun to see their reactions, see what they like the best and the least..to share the experiences we have.. i think it's fun to just go to a park and hang out, to play croquet or go for a long walk..so, you see, i love to go and would travel the world if i could...so, i'll have to, one trip at a time.

spring

it's february and i'm ready for spring....now, since i live in california you might all be thinking...it's always spring...but, not really...after living here for awhile, you can see the changes of season...it might be slight...you never know...but, they do change...you just have to be watching...but, spring is usually followed by at least a month of hard rain in january...it gets so old...rain, rain, rain...but, then everything is so green..february is my favorite time of year...it's sooo green, but, cool enough for a sweater...so, where is spring this year? it's not here....because instead of rain we had freezing temperatures...everything froze and died and it's just BROWN!!!! you'd think i was in utah or somewhere where it's actually winter....it's so sad...we had a drizzle of rain today...not enough to do anything...so, i hope the spring comes soon...because california in the spring is something you shouldn't miss....

old friends

today i went to lunch with the first friend i had in california...so, we've been friends for 28 years...chris saved me...i was so lonely when we moved here...she had her baby katie, i had kelly...we would hang out every day....and i mean every day...it was fun....while i stayed at diane and terry's she would come over and eat all their cheese...she loved it! so, through the years we've both had 4 kids...they are all grown up now...so, now we get together just once or twice a year...it's like we have never been apart...she's moved about every 2 years from house to house to house...while i've stayed in the same place...isn't it amazing how you can have a friend that is so different, yet the same? it's the greatest...i'm lucky because i have quite a few of those types of friends...i love having friends that have known me when...when i was in high school, when i had a husband, when i was a young mother...i like my new friends also, don't get me wrong...but, there's something to say for someone that knew you when......
