glories of spring

not to make any of you 'out-of-staters' jealous or anything! but, spring has sprung in california....and it is beautiful...at this time of year, maybe until the end of april we have the most beautiful green, green mountains just outside my door...it's amazing what a little or alot (in this years case) of rain will do for the hills...they are so gorgeous and green, the sky has been sooooo blue and the temperature is just about perfect....so, you'll have to enjoy through my pictures...and just know that i wish you were here...

i just have to say that i have liked daniel day lewis for years...he can play the crazy...but, i've loved him since he was in "last of the mohicans"...i thought he was classy in his thank you speech at the academy awards...he just seems like he really loves his wife and kids...you don't always see that in hollywood..

are any of you old enough to remember that song? it's from 'bye, bye, birdie'....well, when things are tough and looking tougher..it's nice to remember something like this...or remember from Pres. Hinckley...as he said...it will all work out....another person i know keeps reminding us of 'baby steps'...taking everything in baby steps....so hopefully things will be better in the morning....

my friend liz sent this to me and it was so cute...i looked and she was in the finals of the competition...

good mail!!!

i've had some really fun mail the last few days...today, i got a really fun "good mail" package from this girl...it's more special, since she's my daughter...but, i received a cute red mail box filled with treats...there were her darling fortune cookies that she made, a box of conversation hearts and some delicious truffle kisses...what a fun gift to open and perfect for valentines day...

travel swap

i participated in Kelly's travel swap...and in doing so i met a new friend...if you want to read her blog click it...she is a very talented artist and it's been fun to find out about her...for my blog swap she sent me a beautiful picture of 2 nuns walking by a graffitti wall at the sistine chapel..she thought at the time that they were 2 beautiful ladies living "in" the world, but not "of" the world...she painted this picture after observing it in italy...i also received some note cards that she painted...she's very artistic, i tell you...they are of mosques in turkey...that thrills me because we went there last summer...then a cute journal for travels, a little photo wallet...for pics of my grandbabies...and a great book with info on 100 different cities, which will be fun to read...this was all wrapped up in darling map paper, tied with a string and old stamps...so all in all...it was a very fun gift to open...so, thank you so much to my travel swapper...kelley....

i've mentioned sadie and her theiving ways...well, today sophie was howling and howling at the front door...now, she always barks if someone rings the doorbell...but, she never howls...so, i went to look, didn't see anyone...she kept doing it....so, i looked for sadie...and then gracie...i looked outside and noticed the back gate was open...sadie had escaped...sophie, i've figured out, is the "mother" figure....she always worries if gracie is outside...and i guess she can't be without sadie...i guess my "worry-wart" ways finally rubbed off on someone!

just got back from a evening with some fun friends...one doesn't live near us anymore, so when she's in town, we have to party...their husbands came with us to dinner...and then they were ready to leave...so they left and we stayed...and it's just such a great time...talking, talking, talking...about anything, everything and always our kids...as mothers, wives, women...we need that release...we need to know that everyone has the same fears, dreams and thoughts...it's good to connect...in response to Kel's blog today...yes, blogs are good...they are this day's way of keeping in touch...it used to be letters...long distance phone calls...now, we have internet...we have blogs...it's great...we all need to connect with people that are in the same boat...or have been in that boat..it helps us know that we are normal...we are getting along in the world the best we can and we can have a great time doing it when your friends are standing beside you...i'm lucky to have so many standing beside me...
