marrakech

we arrived late in marrakech on new year's eve....exhausted!
after that long train ride....the hotel is gorgeous...beautiful...and they gave me an amazing upgrade...a beautiful house...it's huge...especially for one person...it has a living area, inside atrium, bedroom, kitchenette...the works...outside is a lovely patio with a plunge pool and fire pit....wish we were staying a few weeks....kerry and austins room is very nice also...living area with bedroom..very spacious...after checking the rooms out...we ate and went to bed!  happy new year!!
thursday we had a guide that took us around the city...it's a really nice city with a lot going on...all the buildings are a peachy rust color...it's the law to have them that color....at least, whatever shows....

he took us to Yves St. Laurent's house...it has gorgeous gardens that are open to the public...inside the walls, his house is bright blue with turquoise accents....amazing!

afterwards we went to the medina...it's a huge square where they have tons of fruit stands, food stands etc....we went into the souks...the little stores on the windy streets...he took us to a rug shop....

kerry got her moroccan wedding blanket....

then, to the spice market...that was really fun...so many spices, dyes, creepy dead animals etc....very fun...we got a lot of mint tea, this is the staple tea served here....it's so refreshing!  then, we walked around seeing the other stores....

out in the medina again, we saw the snake charmers...one of them put the snake around my neck and head!  creepy!!! and then, back to the hotel to crash....

we went to dinner that night at the riad arabian....it was such a pretty hotel and the restaurant was really neat...it was out on a balcony, overlooking a beautiful patio...everyone here is so cute with cedar...they are always kissing his cheek....they make sure he is happy....give him toys etc....the food was delicious...moroccan delicacies...we loved it....
